Maine coast is a favorite place for me, where to go to rest, relax and be inspired. Generally when I am relaxing, the only camera I bring along with me is the phone. But often it is all I need to capture a fleeting moment, when the light and the clouds form the most perfect patterns and shapes.
The coast is dotted with thousands of tiny islands with a pristine natural state. Elwell Island is one of those quiet little islands where the osprey and bald eagles make their home.
This painting is a perfect example of the blending of the modern and traditional arts, starting with the simplicity of a camera phone, then transformed into an underpainting stroke by stoke with an electronic paint brush, and finished with the traditional methods of oil paints, applied with a palette knife.
